She is the 2023 president of the American Academy of Family Physicians, past president of the New York State Academy of Family Physicians and serves on numerous committees for specialty societies including the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, the Association of Departments of Family Medicine, the North American Primary Care Research Group, and the World Organization of Family Doctors.
Dr. Iroku-Malize is involved in diverse programs including, but not limited to, global & planetary health, clinical informatics, women’s & children’s health, special needs populations, cultural competency, advocacy, and leadership. She has worked for over three decades on clinical, research and academic initiatives to enhance health and equity for both providers and patients across various communities locally, nationally, and internationally.
A native New Yorker, she has lived in various countries and earned her medical degree from the University of Nigeria and did her internship in Trinidad & Tobago before returning to the US. She completed her family medicine residency at Southside Hospital and is dual board certified in family medicine and hospice and palliative medicine. In addition, she holds an MPH (majoring in health policy and management) from Columbia University and an MBA from the University of Massachusetts.
William Graf is a Fine Art artist and international instructor of Oil, Watercolor and Acrylic painting in landscapes, still life, portraiture and drawing. On Long Island he teaches at the art studio, The Atelier at Flowerfield, The National Art League and The Art League of Long Island(ALLI) as well as a professional illustrator. His extensive art career began after completing his drawing and old master painting studies at the Arts Student League, NYC, after which Bill went on to study in Florence, Italy at the Cecil Graves Academy.
He started his career as a free lance illustrator for book publishers like Harlequin, Thomas Nelson, Bethany House (which earned him the Christy Award for best Christian book cover design & illustration) just to name a few accounts. Bill also kept true to his fine art training by accepting portrait commissions and worked on both private & public mural projects. His portraiture has won numerous Awards throughout his career. One of his noteworthy commissions was for a mural depicting a scene of President Theodore Roosevelt’s children in the White House, which was painted to be displayed in the Museum of American History.
Bill’s talent ranges from portraits to plein air painting; where he travels with his students from the hills and towns of Tuscany to the dramatic coast of Maine. In 2023 his workshop will be roaming the beautiful countryside of Provence, South of France His diverse painting skills in watercolor and oil have made him an award-winning artist in the prestigious International Richeson75 Portrait/Figure and The Small Works 2019 Painting Exhibits. Amongst his sold artwork, his painting “Orange” won Best in Show which was then sold through The Atelier of Flowerfield Art Gallery. His work has been published in two Richeson75 Hardcover and online Books. Bill continues to win awards for his artwork and sell his paintings each year.
Recipient of numerous awards from the International Miniature Portrait Show of Montreal, the NYC Students Art League Figure Drawing 1st Prize for figure drawing, Huntington NY Arts Council for Best In Show for portraiture and Honorable Mentions, NY Nassau County Art Leagues 1st Prize for figure painting and 1st prize for still life. Recipient of the Frank J. Reilly Scholarship Award. Recently he has received Honorable Mention & Merit Awards in the prestigious Richeson75 International Show for Portraiture. The Best In Show awards for Small Works in the Richeson75 International Exhibit, The Gold medal Award at The National Art League 88th Annual Juried Open Exhibit & a merit award at 89th Annual Juried Open Exhibit and currently has artwork on display at the 2019 Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Award. Sandra Graf worked as a graphic artist for 17 years at various major publications including Long Island’s Newsday. During that time, she developed her computer skills as a digital graphic designer, winning several awards (FCPNY and AFCP) in her field. Her software knowledge expands from InDesign, the industry standard layout program, photoshop, iMovie, premier pro and illustrator. Her art training began at the fine arts program at FIT and SVA School of Visual Arts. From there she pursued a career in advertising in TV commercial production in NYC working for major ad agencies like DDB, KSW&G and HT&S Advertising.
She returned to her design career as a freelancer in her own business, Grafix Design Studio managing several accounts. Sandra left the corporate world and freelancing to pursue her desire to teach art to children and has gained her teaching experience with kids, creating weekly summer art programs of art projects for The Smithtown Historical Society and other organizations. She presently works as the Lead Staff Art Instructor for a private art school here on Long Island. “This has been the most rewarding time of my entire career. Influencing young minds to open themselves up to their inner creativity has been a great satisfaction and fulfillment of mine”.
Sandra’s teaching techniques involve developing the child’s drawing skills starting with the basic elements and principles of design. Her creative projects encourage and challenge the child’s imagination. Drawing upon her own marketing and advertising skills, Sandra is able to help kids not only to observe the world around them but interpret what they see in an artistic way. She teaches them not to be a spectator but a participant in influencing the world around them through art. Sandra loves the challenge, when she hears a child say “I can’t draw that”. That’s where the elements and principles of design are applied as she simplifies design concepts for them to help them understand. She helps them recognize how design is all around their everyday life, giving them examples like the Apple Computer logo, Starbucks, McDonalds, etc What message do these companies graphics convey to us and how do these graphics or the marketing term branding influence us in our lives? Sandra’s teaching philosophy is children any age, given the right tools, instruction and encouragement can express their voice creatively through art.
Sandra continues to design logos and visual marketing materials for clients as well as her family art business, that sponsor painting workshops, art exhibitions, private and group art instruction painting demonstrations, etc.
Sandra is passionate and encouraging about teaching and helping children invest in their imagination and explore the world of art.
Mr. Dowling has received numerous awards, including the Ellis Island Medal of Honor and several honorary degrees from Fordham University, University College Dublin (Ireland). And the prestigious Queen’s University Belfast. In 2017, he served as Grand marshal of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in NYC and he chairs the Institute for Healthcare improvement.
Prior to joining Northwell in 1995, Mr. Dowling served in New York State government for 12 years, including leadership roles as Director of Health, Education, and Human Services, Commissioner of Social Services, Deputy Secretary, and a Chief Advisor to former Governor Mario Cuomo. Earlier, he was a Professor of Social Policy and an Assistant Dean of Fordham’s Graduate School of Social Services.
Jack Crabtree has been helping young people, professional athletes, youth workers, and adults to understand and experience a purposeful life and authentic Christian faith for 50 years. While serving as the Executive Director of Long Island Youth for Christ for four decades, initiating Youth Mentoring in the 1980’s Jack also spend many precious pre-game minutes encouraging the NY Mets, NY Yankees, NY Giants, and NY Jets. His passion for sports was also personal as he rode his bicycle from Miami to Seattle at age 20 for the first time. Jack also biked from Los Angeles to Long Island a second time at age 40. His experience and wisdom proved to be immensely helpful to the Cycling for Change Team in 2015 as Jack coached the cyclists and supported the team on the challenges ahead of us as we prepared to bike from Seattle to Long Island in c4c’s inaugural year.
